Jinja Nile Adrenaline Weekend

Depart your Kampala or Entebbe hotel early morning. Drive east to Jinja on the smooth Kampala–Jinja highway (80km, approx. 1.5 hours). Arrive at your rafting operator's base. Safety briefing, wetsuit and helmet fitting, and paddle training. Then it begins. The Nile at Jinja has 14 Grade 3–5 rapids — including the legendary Itanda Falls, Dead Dutchman, and Overtime. The entire day is spent on the river: paddling, swimming, flipping, swimming back to the raft, laughing, doing it all again. Uganda's Nile is rated one of the world's top 5 white water rafting destinations — and it delivers every time. Half-day calm water sections give you time to absorb the Nile's extraordinary beauty: fishing villages on the banks, African fish eagles calling from riverside trees, hippos surfacing in the deep pools between rapids. Lunch is served on a sandbank mid-river. You finish the river by late afternoon. Return to Jinja town for showers, dinner on the Nile terrace, and overnight at your riverside lodge.

Morning: 44-metre Bungee Jump. Adrift Jinja's bungee platform sits 44 metres above the Nile — the water below you wide, fast, and green. You have a choice: jump feet first, dive, or tandem. The freefall lasts approximately 3 seconds. The Nile comes up very fast. This is one of Africa's most spectacular bungee locations — not for the setting's convenience but for its elemental drama. Mid-morning: Quad Biking. Board an ATV quad bike for a 1-hour guided ride through Jinja's surrounding villages, red dirt tracks, sugar cane fields, and Nile viewpoints. No experience needed — your guide leads at a pace suited to your confidence. Afternoon: Source of the Nile Boat Cruise. Board a traditional wooden boat for the 1.5-hour cruise to the exact geographical source of the Nile — marked with a plaque commemorating John Hanning Speke's 1858 'discovery' (the Baganda people knew it rather longer). The confluence of Lake Victoria and the Victoria Nile is peaceful, birds are everywhere, and local fishermen wave from papyrus canoes. Return to Kampala by early evening (80km, 1.5 hours).
