3-Day Itinerary — Day by Day
Day 1
Kampala / Entebbe → Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Buhoma)
Early morning pickup from your hotel. Your private 4×4 heads southwest through Uganda's beautiful countryside — rolling Buganda hills, equator crossing photo stop, Rift Valley escarpment views, and the dramatic Kigezi highlands. Arrive Bwindi Buhoma sector late afternoon. Check in, meet your guide for a detailed trek briefing. Dinner and overnight with the ancient forest canopy above you. Distance: Kampala to Bwindi approx. 8–9 hours (495km via Fort Portal).
Day 2
GORILLA TREK DAY — 1 Hour with a Mountain Gorilla Family + Batwa Walk
Wake to birdsong in Africa's most ancient forest. Breakfast at 6:30am, then drive to Bwindi park headquarters for the 7:30am ranger briefing. Your group — maximum 8 visitors — sets off into the forest with armed UWA rangers, expert trackers, and your Roam Beyond guide. The trek through Bwindi's mossy, fern-filled forest takes between 1 and 7 hours depending on where the gorilla family rested overnight. When you find them — and you will, 99%+ success rate — the world changes. A silverback sits 8 metres from you, calm and unhurried. Juveniles wrestle in the undergrowth. A mother nurses her infant while watching you with ancient, intelligent eyes. You have exactly 60 minutes with them. It will be the most powerful hour of your safari life. Return to the lodge for a celebratory lunch. Afternoon: Batwa Forest Walk with indigenous guides from the Bwindi Batwa community — Africa's original forest people. Learn their forest skills, honey gathering, traditional fire-making, and hear their remarkable story of the forest.
Day 3
Bwindi Morning Forest Walk → Return to Entebbe / Kampala
Breakfast then a guided morning walk in Bwindi's buffer zone — tracking birds (African green broadbill, African hill myna, black-and-white casqued hornbill), spotting red-tailed monkeys, and absorbing the extraordinary peace of this ancient forest. Depart mid-morning. Your guide stops at the equator crossing, a local craft market, and a scenic viewpoint. Arrive Kampala/Entebbe by evening. Flight tip: Book no earlier than 8pm on Day 3.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the $800 gorilla permit really included?
Yes — always. The Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla trekking permit ($800 per person for foreign non-residents) is included in every Roam Beyond gorilla package price. We secure it during booking — you don't need to chase it separately.
How difficult is the Buhoma sector trek?
Buhoma is considered the most accessible sector for first-timers. Most families are found at moderate altitude. Treks average 2–4 hours. Good hiking boots and a walking stick (provided) are sufficient for most fitness levels. A porter ($15) is available at the gate and makes a significant difference.
What time of year is best for gorilla trekking?
Uganda's gorillas can be trekked year-round — 99%+ success rate in all seasons. Dry seasons (June–September, December–February) offer firmer trails. Green season (March–May, October–November) offers fewer crowds, lusher scenery, and sometimes lower lodge rates. There is no bad time.
How does the payment plan work?
At $1,400 per person, this package costs $117/month over 12 months, or $233/month over 6 months. No interest, no credit check. Email info@roambeyondtours.com or WhatsApp +447826805254 to start your plan today.
